Your role: Head of Corporate Due Diligence

How will you add value to the OpenPayd journey?
Governance, Procedure & Risk Framework
- Own, maintain, and enhance corporate due diligence–related compliance procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and industry standards.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of our risk-based approach to customer due diligence.
Corporate Due Diligence Oversight
- Oversee the onboarding, periodic review, and event-driven reviews of corporate clients across multiple jurisdictions.
- Ensure cases are prioritised appropriately based on risk, commercial needs, and regulatory deadlines.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex, high-risk, or sensitive due diligence cases.
- Supervise day-to-day CDD/EDD activities, including client change requests, queries, terminations, and account closures.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of due diligence analysts, ensuring consistent quality and efficiency of outputs.
- Ensure team members are appropriately trained and remain up to date with regulatory developments, internal policies, and systems.
- Provide hands-on guidance and subject-matter expertise to analysts on complex cases.
Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with Compliance, Sales, Customer Success, Operations, Product, and
- Technology teams to ensure alignment between regulatory requirements and business objectives.
- Liaise with banking partners and third parties to respond to due diligence requests.
- Coordinate internal and external audits related to customer due diligence and onboarding processes.
Process & Systems Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve onboarding and review processes, driving efficiency while maintaining robust risk controls.
- Partner with Product and Technology teams to implement scalable, integrated compliance solutions and tooling.
- Monitor operational performance and recommend enhancements to controls, workflows, and reporting.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Significant experience in corporate due diligence (CDD/EDD) within a regulated financial services, fintech, payments, or banking environment.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience within a business, including at least 5 years in operational onboarding and a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing and developing teams in a compliance or operational risk function.
- Strong working knowledge of AML/CTF regulations, including UK/EU/CAD MLRs, AML frameworks, sanctions, and financial crime risk management.
- Experience overseeing due diligence across multiple jurisdictions.
- Exposure to regulatory audits, due diligence, and risk assessments.
- Strong risk-based decision-making and sound regulatory judgement.
- Ability to balance regulatory rigor with commercial awareness in a fast-growing business.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
- Comfortable acting as an escalation point and making defensible decisions.
- Experience working with compliance systems, onboarding tools, and risk scoring methodologies.
